Indeed. If that sort of thing happens to the fundamentals you can throw your chart's predictions out the window.
The chart above is probably robust enough to play out as described by the textbook before the end of the month, leaving us at around 10 cents, right at the time we get the 4C (probably on Friday July 31). At that point the symmetrical triangle will have completed, and the 4C will guide the next movement. Obviously if it's bad (or just less good than expected) we'll drop back to at least around the triangle's convergence point. But, if it's good, the 4C could well prevent profit taking (which would generally be expected when a textbook selling point it reached) and give us another push higher, the opposite of what would generally happen at the completion of this pattern.
