The traders will never leave, mate. When all the current short term trades are finished, there will be plenty of short terms trades in play because the traders are never going to stop making new ones.

They're just part of the market. Use them to your advantage; either trade when the opportunity arises, or simply use them to time your entry and exit points if you're a long term investor. I do a bit of both. Most people specialise in one or the other. It can all work, just do a good job with whatever strategy or strategies you use, and never expect the market to stop doing whatever you don't want them to. Expect it t do what it inevitably is actually going to do.
