Not sure how SIA and BA could reel in Qantas, given that both are foreign companies, neither hold any interest in QAN (indeed, BA sold it's 20% a while ago), both are in competing alliances, and only SIA have anywhere near the cash to pull it off, although they would probably be barred due to their main shareholder being the Singapore government.
