Hockey has made it clear that those under 50 will not be eligible for the aged pension until they are 70.
The COA comments on raising the superannuation preservation age. I can't recall the exact details but I think the PA was to pre-date the aged pension by 5 years.
I anticipate that I won't get a cent from any government and will need to look after myself. Up until now the plan was to retire as close to 60 as financially possible (earlier even). Super was the primary vehicle.
Currently I put 50k a year into super for the pair of us. Note I am self employed.
I now think super is probably a complete waste of time. Even with the so called concessions. The risk is I won't be able to touch it until I'm 70. What if I do a Bob Hoskins and pass on at 71?
NG property or shares is looking more attractive.
It would be interesting to get some opinions preferably devoid of feelings towards "rorts" (as it stands super concessions, NG etc are all legal).
