I agree. BankWest is the best strategic fit! But I don't believe it will provide "global leverage". Liquidity is what the banks are putting above all else. And buying good local banks will enhance that bottom line. Looking beyond our backyard is foolhardy at this present time.
Plus, 'leverage' is a luxury of the past, given the financial crisis we have now.
