Just remember that if a guy looks at a woman who is not his wife and even thinks about sex with her he is as guilty as he would be if he had sex with her.
Even taking a "minor" thing that is not ours is theft, a small amount of alcohol impedes our judgment to some extent, we negotiate positions to our advantage, we are greedy in that we take more than our fair share...etc. We are all guilty and hence unrighteous.

What is the process of being washed and then sanctified and justified?
Does that mean we can do what we like because the process of being washed will sort out the problems?

Yes, that is true. As it is written:
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. Alcohol is permitted, drunkenness is not.

The process is something that occurs as a result of God's indwelling Holy Spirit in the believer. I cannot answer exactly how He does this. However, in my experience it seems that some of it is through discipline, some of it learning by example, some of it exposure to certain situations, so and so forth. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! (Romans 11:33 ESV)
