"I just don't see how you can argue against your own moral choices. If Free Will does not exist then what use are we?"

This question is very difficult for those who try to face it squarely from personal experience and impartial observation of how they themselves and then wider Human society actually functions.

We accept that sheep, cattle, goats, lions and tigers as well as fish and vegetables don't have free will. Does that mean they have no use .

Of course not. It just means they fulfill their purpose perfectly according to their particular place and corresponding Natural laws. They simply can't fulfill any other purpose.

Humanity as an animal species is no different and cannot evade it's obligatory purpose owed to Nature for the gift of physical existence.
However, interestingly an individual man may have the possibility of additional purposes. Though at it's highest this is more the possibility of choosing which unavoidable current one launches into.

Most societies and religions rely heavily on supporting the idea of real choice and real free will to establish a suitable sheep pen (prison) that results in a stable passive society with least harm to it's integrity.

If real free will existed there would be no need of gods who punish unbelievers and laws that punish anyone who doesn't comply with the latest version of what is "right".
In fact our society must make ever increasing layer upon layer of "laws" and punishment precisely because previous reliance on a common conscience is now almost non existent.

Unbiased scientific analysis has long since confirmed that Man is basically an automaton with no real difference from any other animal.
Ancient teachings have always used this "prison" as a starting point for exploring other possibilities.
In most cases a serious aspirant must temporarily submit and trust his "teacher" until his own possibility of impartiality towards himself gradually grows.
At which point he is indirectly challenged to "Piss on the idol."

Just a few notes for consideration.
