Thanks chatsboy.
It was a lively discussion yesterday evening and I appreciate it. My connection with HEG goes beyond my shareholding in a couple of respects.
I've had a connection with the geology spanning more than 40 years. The rich gold reefs have been there for millions of years but its the meticulous work being done by HEG geologists that is providing a picture of just where the resource is located and how rich it actually is. As a geologist, my appreciation of that work goes beyond the dollar value of the resource.
I've been fortunate to meet quite a few of the people who work for the company. I've been impressed. Not just by their professional competence but also by the friendly, cooperative atmosphere they generate.
Lastly, I've a connection with other shareholders, through this forum and via email as well. In fact, there's a dozen or so emails needing replies right now. I look forward to catching up at the AGM. Be a good chance to personally thank the Board then too.

"Maate wanna buy some gold shares." These are the exact words my broker used when he phoned me from Brisbane 20 or so years ago. BHP were divesting all of their gold assets with the exception of OkTedi and forming BHP Gold. Later on it became Newmont and today it's Newcrest. I can't remember the share price but I bought in because the company had assets like Boddington and Telfer and management was sound.
I'm glad I did.
HEG is a completely different company to BHP Gold but there are at least two things in common. Quality assets and quality management. Where will HEG be in 20 years time?
Bit like Newcrest, I imagine. That's why I have it as a long term buy.
