I'd like to hear anyones views on using Smart&Secure to replace VIN plates on cars. As is, one of these identification plates can be easily transferred from vehicle to vehicle.
If it a system is introduced whereby it is made very difficult if not next to impossible to transfer a Smart&Secure label from one car to another then wouldn't this seriously impact the stolen car market. The Smart&Secure label would hold the the vehicle details and the current owner details. When buying a car a Smart&Secure label reader could verify that the label belongs to the original car and the person selling the car is the person registerd on the label as being the owner.
Obviously this would only work when people are buying stolen cars unaware but it would nevertheless be a major contribution to hindering crooks. Smart&Secure labels could also be attached to number plates and engines (as an example) which must go along way to preventing trade is these stolen items. Only certain authorized bodies would have the ability to apply the labels and change the information on the labels.
A great technology that surely has a vast array of uses. Let's see how well management do in marketing their product. If successful there surely must be massive upside at these prices.
