No not the "formation of Marra Mamba" but the transformation to enriched Marra Mamba. Enriched being the operative word. Folding (anticlines and synclines), faults and erosion are an intregreal part of the process, since these events helped in allowing the water to reach the banded iron formations (BIF).
Marra Mamba is the lowest formation of the Hamersley Group, therefore the oldest formation.
The ore was developed through the iron-enrichment of the BIF through the oxidation of iron oxide as magnetite to martite, and the replacement of gangue minerals such as chert, carbonates and silicates by goethite. The original banding of the rock is preserved through the enrichment process.
