The XJO thread and Zoomba lounge consists of die hard chartists, fundamentalists, economists, wannabe economists & tea leaf readers who get together and trade ideas to try and make a buck. But how did it all begin? It's time we took a trip back in time & reveal it's origins.

Big Daddy the 3rd Senior enjoyed a comfortable life as one of the new breed of Kentucky entrepreneurs. It was a Wednesday night and while chewing some tobacco and having a pair of long johns pressed he was told of newfound riches to the west, there was gold aplenty to be found and shortly after he sold his chain of plantations and headed for the New Frontier.

He had a penchant for trains and BD III snr didn't take long to start the first "buffalo shoot", punters would pay a premium to traverse the prairies and take home all they could catch, it was the birth of discretionary spending as we know it.

Success continued and shortly after he opened "The Pan n CanCan" where weary prospectors could cure their ills with an ale or 10 and some cards and dice... all while watching the leggy delights of exotic dancers.

It was by no means a place for the fainthearted, there was always potential for punters to get shot down for the slightest of quips.

But a much more sinister breed were making their presence felt.

But BD III Snr soon had their measure, a toy train set in the corner of the saloon had them amused for hours on end.

Affluence and prosperity were in abundance and immigrants were amongst the first to establish viable commerce.

Life on the New Frontier was full of characters that made life interesting.

Pisces Very Snr IV was convinced, even resolute, that there was money to be made in gold but more often than not by day's end was seen using his pan at the local soup kitchen. Known as Jed to his mates, he would later go on to make his fortune in the black gold variety.

Martis Snr VIII was an eccentric character who would constantly preach to the masses to "go back where they came from" because "peak gold" was here and there were no more riches to be made.

There was also mademoiselle Kates9999, a hard hitting suffragette who became the first woman to gain entry into male dominated domains by various means.

Her struggle led to progressive laws being passed.

On a lighter note there was mowibble jnr who would entertain the townsfolk by jumping off his horse and buildings... after a few ales he would be known to make claims that one day "men would jump from metal birds and land safely", this would only be met with a "pfft' from the townsfolk.

Life was good on the frontier, in fact it was black and white that there was money to be made, so it was hardly surprising that this sign would catch the eye of the townsfolk.

... so off they went, wealth was good but untold super wealth was even better.

They would venture to this new golden land and settle on the Ballarat goldfields... the history books ceased there but folk stories tell of a great nemesis that would surface, to this day only artist impressions are available.

The nemisis would galvanise the new settlers, what was a once a week ritual of meeting for a few ales soon became once a day (sometimes even early openers) and they would meet to discuss new ways to make a pound or two in spite of it's influence...a ritual continued to the day by their heirs.

    Good trading all.
