I estimate if a genuine competitor (well capitalised and known entity) was to emerge in the US, they would need at least 6-9 months to develop and roll out a competing product. I say that because it was around 9 months that it took ClearView to basically copy Afterpay, get all the legals done and launch in the UK.
Do you agree with this timeline and how long do you feel Afterpay has a free shot in the US before it’s too late for a competitor? Can more than one exist or is this a Google / Yahoo-Bing type thing?
To me it feels like that a competitor needs to reach that escape velocity or they have zero shot of competing with Afterpay.
