I'm no Trump supporter, but I believe his current tariff campaign IS for the long term betterment. Make no mistake the tariffs ARE hurting China and one of the major sticking points is Chinese protection of American/Western IP something with potential for a massive generational or even millennial impact especially for tech/fintech investors. How long before we see a 100% rip off of APT's model and technology emerge in China with zero repercussions? Look at recent events around Huawei for example. It's the trade war we had to have if there is ever to be any commitment from China to resolving these matters and I for one hope he doesn't falter until the Chinese yield on IP and I am glad someone is finally showing the balls to confront them aggressively on such matters.

Agree completely, the tariffs are just a tool Trump (or even more broadly an increasingly bipartisan plan) to force China to make structural, not cosmetic reforms.
