bigdoggy & pjf - the behaviour your describe occurs every day with every share. After the closing auction has finished, many buyers and sellers will withdraw their bids so that they start fresh the next day. Also, when you put in for a buy or sell order, you can set it up so that it remains valid for only a day. This is why orders are pulled after the market closes; people will take new positions the following day after they have time to absorb overseas markets, any news, etc.
Secondly, the cross trades you mention at different prices, these are trades from overseas brokers on behalf of overseas traders. The price is usually the previous day's close. So, once again, this is nothing abnormal.
