dey looking for producing tier 1 assets where dere some similarities to coal mining where they have some competence. Unfortunately there's no tier 1 assets for sale anywhere in the world.
dere parents didn't let 'em buy up BHP assets which are as close to quality as you can get for producing assets. Nobody stupid enough to sell a producing mine coz so hard to make a new one.
So that leaves building a solar or hydro farm on land thats no longer coal mining. This has a few benefits 1) reduce rehab costs 2) build "social licence" 3) build a "transition story" for coal lovers on the sidelines to get in 4) reduce energy costs for their mining operations.
even the Milners over dere at NHC are doing exactly the same move.
