The Queensland Government is exploring possible charges against executives from the failed resources firm Linc Energy over the alleged contamination of huge swathes of prime cropping land.
    Key points:
Linc founder Peter Bond accuses the Queensland Government of unfairly targeting company officials
Says move to investigate possible charges "seem to be premature"
The company faces five charges of wilfully and unlawfully causing serious environmental harm at its Hopeland site
But the company's founder and former chief executive, Peter Bond, has accused the Government of unfairly targeting Linc officials instead of focusing on rehabilitating the environment.
"It's the same bullshit, different day from the Government," Mr Bond said.
Linc Energy was this year committed to stand trial on five charges of wilfully and unlawfully causing serious environmental harm at its Hopeland underground coal gasification (UCG) plant on the western Darling Downs.
A Government-commissioned study found the permanent acidification of soil near the facility, while farmers around the site have been told to advise the Environment Department if they want to dig down deeper than two metres because of possible explosive underground gases.
If found guilty, the company could face more than $30 million in fines.
Linc Energy denies the charges. ........

    From Leigh Creeks last accounts
Mr Peters joined Linc Energy soon after its IPO. At the time Linc Energy was the world leader in ISG. In his 6 years at Linc Energy Mr Peters held the positions of General Manager Environment and Government Relations, General Manager Business Development, Executive General Manager Nth Asia and finished as Executive General Manager of Investor Relations. His experience across a broad range of business units within Linc Energy will prove invaluable in developing the Leigh Creek Energy project.
Previously Mr Peters was employed at the Queensland EPA as head of investigations and Compliance and then acting Director of Central and Northern Regions. He managed the integration of the environmental regulation of Qld Mining Industry into the EPA.

So is Mr Peters one of the executives referred to in the report?
