Be carefull of drawing any conclusions from large end of day high volume trades. In the US (Sorry just don't know AUS) There are many off market trades and Dark Pool trades. These are done at preagreed terms and do not show up on the market when they occure. For eample two enities want to trade a large bloc they agree to a price indepengent of market action. US SEC rules require that all trades be registered on an exchange. These often show up in the last few minutes of trading and can change the price and spike volume. Key is they are not part of the normal auction. In the US They are largest on Mondays and the third thursday and Friday of the month when options expire.
