I agree with your view of downward pressure. My bet is there are some market maker (think market that matters) investors who have been tagged by their stop lost orders and thus are fully applying, anyway they can, downward pressure to enable them to buy back in and not lock in losses. Shame there are so many enablers. Yet worthy to note, AUS stock market year just ended while in the US market the end of January 2019 is target point to finalize positions.
