I am afraid most spread numbers at the gross level are fake or at least not worth considering. Often this is because there are many orders that are just way out of the money. Best just to look at the buy sell spread plus or minus a few cents to get a proper feel. just add up the first 4 or 5 lines on each side to get a better perspective. It is also worth looking at the size of individual offers/bids. Often there are a heap of ridiculously small bids sitting there. The bots (that have extremely high speed access to the feed of orders) are reading the feed and can insert or pull orders faster than us mere mortals blink so I find it best not to seek instant gratification - set a price and wait a day or two.
