If you are trying to make money by trading in and out of the market on a short term basis, is that behaviour somehow more 'healthy'?

It is the same motivation and strategy as the machine based trading, just the machine can do it faster and better.

Both techniques are trying to make money by taking it off other people (rather than by looking for long term increases in worth where all boats rise).

If you are in it for the long term capital growth, what does it matter if a machine sells 500 or less shares on a particular day to make a few dollars at the expense of someone else? You haven't actually made any loss, you still have your long term asset.

If you are in for the short term and try to outsmart other people to make your money, welcome to the game but be aware some of the other people you are aiming to outsmart program computers
