When you have shares held under the name like "JP Morgan Nominees", it would be very easy to hide the true holder...
But seeing that we are on the subject of "manipulation", a thought did cross my mind:

What if, last week there was a behind-the-scenes takeover plot and they decided that they were prepared to pay $4 per share. This would seem like a reasonable offer because it is substantially higher than the SP and quite a bit higher than the original $3.30 offer.
Then, if word leaked out about the TO, putting in a "Buy at market" up till $3.50 would be a profitable thing to do.
I suppose only the person who put in the buy order last week would know the true story - but it is nice to "conspiracy speculate" from time to time.
