Reckon you nailed it! Typical accumulation tactic. Feed the sell side a hanful of cheapies...pick up larger packages from panicky sellers...rinse repeat. When market balances on no news wait for a decent ann and ride it up i.e. tree shake/accumulation done...so really it's in hands of holders...stay/go their decision. Then you have end of financial year jitters. Macro is all over the place but major indices all heading north generally.
At these prices can't see repression will lower SP further but on other hand great buying op. if you're quick enough. Not very heartening though...but patience is key. A lot of delayed news coming up and expect retrace will kick in quickly.
