What a tragedy, I just cant se why some dogs are not outlawed, and like clockwork people will say oh its not the dogs fault its the owners, but you know some dogs are just bred to do certain things like retrieving or herding or being savage, anyway poor little guy should still be here instead of gone..

A two-year-old boy has been killed after being attacked by a dog in Deniliquin, in far southwestern NSW.

He was attacked by the mastiff cross while visiting relatives early on Sunday afternoon, police say.

His 70-year-old grandmother tried to intervene and his mother managed to fight the dog off.

The boy and his grandmother were both rushed to Deniliquin Hospital but he died a short time later.

Authorities caught the dog and put it down on Sunday night.

Detectives are preparing a report for the coroner.
