The storage is not without problems either.
Storing energy has its own dangers. Fire, explosions.
Especially when there is a lot. Where to position it, how to protect it. ppl get laxy dazy over time and start leaning ladders on equipment, letting plants grow over it, bumping with bikes and cars, not shielding from the sun.
There are also issues of the grid with too much power feeding back causing blackouts.
Batteries and solar here and there is one thing.
To have it in every single house, we just dont have the infrastructure to handle it.
Great idea on paper, not reality.
Nuclear can go hand in hand with desal plants.
Servicing power needs during the day, powering desal plants at night.
