, The workshop lasts three days, is an initiative of the Department of Trade and Private Sector Development. His work will consist in the study and improvement of a draft document prepared at the request of the Togolese government, the International Office of expertise AGORA 2000, with funding from the EU.
The document submitted by the firm defined as vision of competitiveness in the marketing of products and services offered by the Togo whether domestically, regionally and globally. Also, is it recommended, in this sense, substantial support to growth sectors of the Togolese economy and can contribute significantly to poverty reduction.
The paper plans in 2020, establishing a powerful trading system that allow Togo to integrate competitiveness regionally and internationally. It aims to Togo at the end of the next two decades, the country of reference for re-export and transit in West Africa. The mission rests with the Ministry of Commerce responsible for promoting the private sector in this regard, is to have an efficient organization in order to enable the country to offer products and quality services and businesses to be competitive in the context of globalization and trade liberalization. It will also, in the same vein, avoid product shortages Togo domestic and international, providing product diversification and work to promote the actors by providing them with modern tools of international trade.
This workshop is in part the recommendations of the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) which recommended the establishment in the countries of a trading environment that allows them to integrating global trade, according to the representative of this institution in Togo, Abdoulaye N'Diaye. It thanked the EU for its partnership with the OIF in the process of developing the Operational Plan of Action on Trade, Policy Togo.
For his part, responsible for EU mission, Tharesse Urayeneza, welcomed the development of this plan, arguing that Togo, among the 77 developing countries around the world, has commercial potential related resources , including coffee, cocoa, phosphate, the port of Lom?, all assets which can benefit the global market.
Trade Minister in charge of promoting private sector-Arth?me Ahoomey Zunu, welcomed the holding of the workshop, stressing that the level of trade policy being developed takes into account the overarching policy strategy to reduce poverty and boost the national economy.
