The political status is largely irrelevant to Lynas.
I have no doubt the incumbent govt just wishes to minimize risk and is keen to get things going. They would like nothing more than a proven safe Lynas and TOL being forced to closed by the next government (if they lost the next election).
The cost would be overwhelming for Malaysia. Enough to cause a political storm for the current opposition.I have no doubt a claim would stand international scrutiny and more than likely be successful.

The key for Najib is to have all the i's and t's dealt with and to ensure safety so that Lynas' enthusiasm doesn't come back to bite him..should he win and then all goes well..There will be time for proof of safety before the next election..but he WILL make sure.. then in the event of losing the opposition can sweat the hard decision to kick Lynas out or not as they check Govt vaults for enough compensation.
