New rules on Fracking in the USA have been announced in the last couple of days by the Obama Administration. You can google it.
Law starts in June, I think and only applies to Federal land, not individual States - but Obama Administration is hoping they will be adopted by all States.
Maybe NY State might even get a true right wing governor one day too? We live in hope.
