Joffa - I would be careful. If you repurchase soon after selling the ATO would likely consider your sale to be a "wash", and you would not be entitled to claim your loss.
Unless you could demonstrate that there was a commercial purpose to your sale and repurchase other than crystallizing a capital loss, I would think that you would be in trouble.
The bare facts you have given would suggest you could not claim.
