Could the UQ partnership lead to some simple, effective improvements to current imaging techniques similar to the “battery tech” claims?

    Anteo Imaging ?
    From UQ ann. 14/4/15

The impact of refining and improving outcomes in medical and diagnostic imaging could deliver substantial improvements in patient outcomes.
Dr Charlie Huang, Head of New Technologies, Anteo Technologies said: “There is a growing need for flexible approaches to attaching multiple imaging and targeting moieties to sub - micron particles, including nanoparticles.

“These particles have broad application in the fields of medical and diagnostic imaging and Anteo's Mix&Go metal complex technology can provide a flexible and simple method to enable such attachments.

    From http://www.siemens.com/innovation/e...eing/medical-imaging-facts-and-forecasts.html

Great Growth Potential for Medical Imaging Systems
“…an analysis conducted by Research and Markets in 2013 forecasts that the market for medical imaging systems will grow from $30.2 billion in 2013 and $32.3 billion in 2014 to $49 billion in 2020.”

“…market experts from Frost & Sullivan state that GE,
Philips and Siemens accounted for 78 percent of the global market revenue from medical imaging equipment in 2012.”
    ….
Additional molecular imaging methods will be introduced for clinical applications by 2020. They will be able to depict not only organs’ morphology but also their functions,” says Professor Olav Jansen, Director of the Institute for Neuroradiology at the university hospital of Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel, in an interview. According to Jansen, this will be achieved in two different ways. One of them involves increasing image resolution……………..The second option involves the development of new imaging methods such as magnetic particle imaging, which depicts dynamic processes within the body without having to expose the patients and examiners to radiation.

Just dreams, and a long way off, but at least we’re in the hunt with the UQ partnership. Who knows what they might come up with? If/when POC1(Philips) confirmed, and our involvement leading to its commercial viability, one would think Philips would be very willing to give us a crack at a few other innovations they might be struggling with. If a successful partnership does happen to revolutionise PoC, why not have a crack at revolutionising imaging together too.
