EMC2, I use Westpac's trading platform and they keep all of your trading contracts on file, electronically.

Not sure if your platform does?

Anyway this satisfies all of the requirements of the ATO in that it registers a contract number, price, date etc. and the subsequent sell when completed.

As if you a carrying on a business.

From there it is simply a cut and paste into an Excel spreadsheet, with this information, that you then pass to your accountant.

Did it last financial year with about the same trading profile as yourself.

End result no personal income tax paid, with a full refund.

Though I wouldn't suggest losing a substantial amount of money is a sustainable way to minimise your tax and I did miss out on the stimulus package because of it LOL!!
