No its not a reasonable question, because no one here can answer it, nor can verify whether your premise is valid, that he has a retainer, or not.
If anything he may have got options with the recent CR, this is what happened with BGS when he had a/the dream team to work with.
As for the AJM history, pretty basic detail has been left out by the crocodile tears of another poster, that AVL's new commodity consultant was dark on AJM management, until a certain detail appeared, that of the nature of the debt AJM had/has, "vendor debt". What's interesting is that AVL's CC ascertained that detail on the nature of the debt and changed his mind, a detail that no one in the HC forums seemed to be able to provide. Or did they?
I've always thought AVL's CC's scrutiny of management from time to time pointing out qualities as, "Snouts at the trough", "ASX casino" criticisms to be honest reflections. As for critics the critics complaining that he has been pandering obliquely to AVL management for an opportunity, I recall AVL's CC being very dark on the South African play when it was first announced, this concern was aired on social media. Um, so I take him as a guy who is not a "snout at the trough" but as someone who does a very 'tidy' due diligence on a management, and someone who has the chutzpah to make the it he believes in happen if the conditions are ripe and, without the conferences and nice guy look at me syndrome.
I would like to know more about what he knows regarding opportunities with China, and I hope no industry peers block his way, because its all these AVL punters that are sharing the risk not just the CC. AVL's CC states he only does stuff he believes in, and the fact it is happening now, joining AVL, is a strong signal from Vince that there is a smoke signal emanating from China.
My remaining Q is, what drives AVL's new CC to join and be so interested in Vanadium? I agree he has spruiked his name a bit over the last year, and yet, let me remind here, he is not shy of criticising AVL management, that is obvious publicly even if probably only percentile of what he really thinks privately.
So he is not a sycophant fawning his way in, as seems to be the paint-brushwork of some posters.
