During drilling of the sidetrack there'll be an LWD GR tool to allow delineation of shales from sands and also allow correlation with the original well bore. Mudlogging unit will be collecting ditch cutting samples and monitoring ditch gas.
If the lithology is vastly different from the original well bore this will be reflected in the GR log and also cuttings.
I appreciate your caution but the risk of things going pear shaped with the sidetrack are low.
