In a nutshell
Break the coal down, add a little water, shake it all up, force it through an extruder and bake it hard. (now it is stable to transport)
Apparently somebody noticed a long time ago that roads in brown coal mines were not brown and muddy but black and hard like bitumen. Just trying to replicate that natural process and keep all the good stuff in the pellet.

Coldry has been referred on here as shake n? bake with nothing but BCE and lovely water remain, where WEC is the heat n? squeeze method, and the water is brown sludge in need of much treatment.
