Not much difference at all as both instances involve manipulation at their core.
In AOC's case she must first establish the fact of her claim if she's to have any hope of convincing lawmakers. Emotion alone is not enough as on its own it can be construed as confected.
Equally those alleging Trump incited the riot must not only afford him due process but also prove he intentionally sought insurrection. Without sufficient evidence the charge is motivated by emotion, not fact.
