If you follow Indonesia news, you'll be surprised that every day there are political attempts to topple Joko Widodo's credibility. The clemency case is unfortunately one of them. It should have been handled by ex-president Yudhoyono but he left it on purpose for Widodo to handle because he wanted to have a good name and reputation at the end of his leadership. I also suspect that the clemency was left to him for political parties to attack if he did decide to give clemency to anyone on death rows.
