Jerome, the majority of voters are angry because Gillard promised there would be no carbon tax under a government she led - most people would understand that was a commitment not to price carbon.
On the eve of the election, she said a win would be a mandate to price carbon - so she didn't mean a word of her promises for the days before? That would make it a deliberate attempt to deceive in most people's understanding.
Then she not only thumbed her nose at the majority of voters (as shown by opinion polls at the time) and legislated it, she danced in parliament.
Gillard's carbon tax is more than deceit, it is a slap in the face to the spirit of democracy over MAJOR policy.
Most of Abbott's mistakes have been of a far more minor issue. No comparison, imo.
