Abbott is damaging people including those in his own political party and his own family. He may even be damaging himself since yet again he's admitted to being involved in a 'cocktail party', after which he's made as yet unsubstantiated allegations about having been assaulted by a 'YES to SSM' campaigner - an allegation whipped up by his mates in the Murdoch media to having been 'attack'.

Taken collectively that's an ugly picture of an incredibly self-indulgent, highly privileged person whose very public rejection seems set to ratchet up another notch.
