I don't think Tony's well off mates will be hurt much.
The reason for this new tax is to make it appear that the wealthy are being hit as well as the low and middle income earners who will be hit by this budget.

Tony wants it to look like everyone is sharing the pain, when in fact if he was sincere about making the well off pay their fair share he would be abolishing negative gearing, abolishing tax concessions on capital gains, abolishing or reducing tax concessions on superannuation, changing the regulations which allow trusts to defer tax and making big companies like Microsoft pay tax in Australia on their earnings here.

Labor also allowed all these things to continue. Their main aim is to look after the rich just like the Liberals do. Low and middle income earners should abandon them both.
