To be fair to Hockey he only became an ideologue when he had his feeling hurt. In the 2009 Lib leadership spill Turnbull said: "I support the ETS, Abbott opposes the ETS, and Joe's so weak he doesn't know what he believes." Joe was sufficiently stung that he thought he'd better find something to believe in and came up with a crusade against "the age of entitlement."
