Many thought they did that at the last election but Tony Abbott grasped defeat from the jaws of victory. Meantime people are growing very weary of Abbott's tired slogans & increasingly concerned about his lack of vision & documented plans to achieve it.
As for Labor's debt - perhaps all $200b of it, well we did have a GFC & although there has been a fair bit of waste the great bulk was either returned to needy taxpayers who provided it in the first place or has been invested in critical infrastructure: the NBN, hospitals, education, roads, rail & ports. IMO that is not a waste!
IMO that infrastructure spending has produced more worthy & more productive areas of investment than increasing upper middle class welfare & the purchase of outrageously expensive weapons of death & mass destruction with which to fight problematic wars.
