Without high levels of immigration house prices would tumble, wages would grow and working conditions would not approximate those of tinpot nations. Our largest cities wouldn't be as badly designed, so congested and such a burden on regional Australians.
As for THE reason Tony Abbott shot his foul mouth off about immigration; in my view that's to do with being a self-serving populist driven by his archaic British origins that wreak of the late 1700s.
