I'm not as impressed as you are. The fact is that much of the Chinese success comes from exploitation of intellectual property, mostly from the US. They steal, and bully and conduct cybercrime to get it. It might surprise you, but I'm actually with Trump on the failure of the US to deal with this robustly in the past. Whether it's too late is a moot point.
The rate of incarceration in China is high, including of political prisoners and it's close to a totalitarian state with surveillance of people using state of the art face recognition systems, cyberspying etc. They use prisoners as slave labour.
Do you think they admire our way of life including our democratic institutions? I've lived with many Chinese and by and large their attitude towards us is that we don't deserve Australia; They do. There are exceptions, but by and large their duty is to the Homeland, and they will conduct surveillance, commit acts of espionage and other activities. It's such a problem that a book by Clive Hamilton which was written on the subject was suppressed, in Australia!

Try and do some research on how cultural attitudes are formed in China and how they deal with dissent, before being too admiring.
I'm far from impressed. People admired Stalinist Russia before word got out. We have no such excuse. We're just the dumb blondes of Asia. That's how most of them view us.
