I think Tony was very "in touch" with his speech. He has given hope to many Aussies that there is an alterative to this current "out of touch" government...:)
One thing that really stands out in this government is their lack of perception of majority voter sentiment. Howard was very perceptive for most of his time as PM, but seemed to lose it over work choices and other things in his last term.
I think this government will pay the same price as Howard if they continue on this bizarre path of making policy on the run that, in some instances, actually goes against majority voter sentiment. And yet she leads a minority government which means she wasn't elected by the people which generally means she has no mandate for major reforms.
