I hear you. I'm very unlikely to invest.

But you've got to admit, if the accounts are half accurate, the margin of safety is massive. I wonder how governance standards in the US, in the days when Ben Graham was sniffing out his net-nets, compared with those of today?

Is it possible that the general negative perception toward China, and our tendency to taint with broad brushes, creates the opportunity?

There are definitely people making sound investments in China (such as the guys at Platinum Asset management). But yes, they have experience there and know what they're doing.

And @travelightor, wrt your comments about being able to stomache any potential (likely) further falls. Is this any different from general cigar-butt investing? Ie, you bet small, take a portfolio approach, with the understanding that you may do-your-dosh with some of the bets. No?
