I see your point but remember mortgage stress has a lag time, sometimes years. It all depends on how long rates stay higher for. The "horror peak" is where both interest rates and inflation are high as the former tries to combat the latter, and sticky inflation is what is being battled.
I'll leave you with this question. Why has the CBA, after its own stellar result weeks ago, set aside $3.2billion in a mortgage default fund, which spooked the market?
Sure sitting on the sidelines means you don't score goals, but you also don't get injured.
