So you're saying I should have held onto my 15,000 wbc shares and not sold them for $23.90 in October last year and put the money in high interest savings accounts because dividends are better than interest because they are 7%?
Let's do the maths $1 wbc share price = $15,000 x 3.9 = $58,000 + $10,000 for 8 months interest = $68,000 total give or take $1,000
WBC dividend 70c + 64c + 100% franked = $150 x 134 = $20,100 + franking credits = $26,500 total give or take $1,000
The difference is I am over $40,000 wealthier from not holding wbc shares and earning interest instead. I've done this 3 years in a row with wbc without taking a dividend payment simply because dividends don't pay. this year is harder to buy back wbc because interest rates are higher.
