getting back to the building inspectorate, the Baird govt said that private inspectors would be more efficient (the usual claim in favour of privatisation) and place the burden of th4 cost of inspections on the developer, not the govt.
yet the evidence at the tail end of the Berejiklian govt showed that inspectors had been accepting "considerations" for a clear report.
imo this is proof of your post pinot.
when Carr announced they would privatise coal electricity plants his explanation was the maintenance costs. I was inclined to accept the reasoning. it seemed valid. but as you say, Carr expected that businesses would run the plants responsibly. 2 of my cousins worked at one of the plants; they told me maintenance had been continued during govt ownership, but that fell to nothing once the private interest took over their plant.
we now see coal plants shutting down their turbines due to lack of maintenance, boilers leaking due to lack of maintenance and cleaning, brown outs due to turbine shut downs, and increasing, ever-increasing costs incurred by businesses needing the profits so pushing up their demands for higher wholesale payments.
don't know if a coup d'état would get anything in Aus tho..... a revolt is likely a better choice of word. we don't need a militia taking over.
or do you mean a snazzy little coupé to cruise around the country![]()
