    mixtar,

"One, how come did this company say they could not process that landfill in the US due to contamination from dirt. The Geelong landfill would be just the same?. Second, the material currently being processed is dry. The landfill would be totally wet, how will they successfully dry this product."

Mixtar, salt slag contains approximate percentage amounts of aluminium, salts etc. It appears that at those approximations, MHM can turn a profit by converting the salt slag to it's constituent components and then selling them. If however, the salt slag were to be greatly contaminated with foreign matter (dirt etc)then those percentages would be somewhat diluted and so it may have been uneconomic to process that particular landfill. However, I understand the Australian landfill you refer to has been tested previously and is fine.

As for the landfill being totally wet. Are you talking slurry or slightly damp? You ask how they will successfully dry this product. Sorry to answer a question with a question, but, why must it be dry? You may remember that prior to the installation of screw conveyors at Moolap they had some issues with gas causing issues with their slurry pumps. Doesn't that tend to suggest that the product is wet and therefore not an issue?
