I agree that share consolidations are usually a wate of time. I don't know why but my anecdotal experience is that on average share prices usually decline afterwards. Maybe consolidations are a sign something is wrong: for example there have been so many capital raisings that it's a sign things will nerver come together. Similarly you could argue that share splits are a sign the stock has gotten too big and its company growth rate has peaked.
However- and I've said this before on other threads- if the share was bouncing between $1.00 and $1.25, instead of 10c and 12.5c, the price shenanigans of the last few weeks may not have been practicable.
Let's be honest (and maybe a bit harsh on ourselves). While we talk about getting rich from AVB shares as they "multi-bag", maybe someone's been out there actually doing it.
