There seems to be a lot of U mines planned for Namibia.
Currently there are 2 operating U mines (LH & Rossing) and we have Trekkopje commencing soon which will add another 8.5M lbs per year.

The next U mine is Valencia expected to start in 2009.

Then (according to Namibia water) we have a list of hopefuls that include
    Bannerman
    Western Australia Metals
    Deep Yellow
    Extract
all planning on opening mines in Namibia.

Assumning each mines has a 5Mlb output that means we will have an additional 8.5 + 25 = 33.5 Mlbs production from the new mines alone. Then you have possible increases in production from Rossing & LH which are being studied.

This seems a very large increase of additional U from just one country. Then there are the other new & proposed U mines in other parts of the world (eg Cigar Lake) plus possible expansions of mines like Roxby in South Australia.

Such a huge increase in mines in a small country like Namibia could put strains on a lot of areas such as manpower, power, environment, etc).

I cant see how all these mines will get the go ahead and if they did the supply of U would dampen the U price significantly and hence their profitability.

Anyway its just a concern I have that there are just too many proposed mines in Namibia.
